This is a summary of the tasks that iTech teachers are needing to complete during August 2009. Please help our entire team by appending, as necessary.
New Server Tasks
- Create groups in Active Directory (AD). Notify Jason, Debbie, Tracy, and Jodi when groups are created in AD. (We will create groups and wikis in OD. We will let you know when those are done and available to teams! We will do this school-by-school, and in the order that you finish your groups. The sooner that you finish your groups, the sooner we'll get the wikis up for your teachers.) There is also a new path for getting to Active Directory once you've logged in to thin.ccsd21.org using Remote Desktop Connection. Now, you no longer need to navigate to your Z: drive. Simply navigate to Start > All Programs as shown below.

- After your groups have been created in Active Directory, you can go in to your schoolfiles.d21.k12.il.us server with Server Admin and set permissions (Read-only) for all of the old group sharepoints. Please complete this no later than the start of school and as soon as possible, so teachers and administrators can access items that they have in those sharepoints. (This is a bigger issue for some schools than for others.)

- Make all staff aware (repeatedly) of the teams.ccsd21.org wiki server for teams to use as a collaborative tool at school and at home. Provide support and training to staff members as necessary! (Access a copy of the wiki directiosn here. Be sure to remind people that their Active Directory username and password (i.e., jason.klein) is the username and password that they use!)

- Provide support to staff members to access their network home directories. Ensure that staff members are storing everything there and correctly (i.e., documents contained within their Documents folder and not out loose in the home directory). This will make the move to their laptops and Portable Home Directories great!
- Ask for help, when necessary. We have additional time forthcoming with TC Networks for troubleshooting, and we have both the Help Desk and AppleCare for additional support.
